Summary

This bill tried to change the state insurance law about parity for substance use disorder coverage in the following ways:

  • Applies this section of the law to individual plans
  • Requires plans to cover residential treatment instead of making it optional with no specified annual limit for days of treatment
  • Eliminates the 60 day annual limit for inpatient care
  • Eliminates the 120 day annual limit for partial hospitalization
  • Eliminates all language about exchanging inpatient days for days of residential treatment or partial hospitalization (no longer matters because there are no more annual limits)
  • Eliminates annual limits for outpatient care

This bill also would have repealed the section of the law that allowed plans to offer optional coverage for residential treatment.
