Summary
This bill tried to add a section to the state insurance law about autism coverage. This section would have been similar to what the section that is currently in the law, which was added in 2014 (that section is summarized at the bottom of this page under “Utah Parity Law”). Here are the significant ways this bill is different than what is currently in the law:
  • Specifically lists autistic disorder, Asperger’s syndrome, and pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified as covered conditions
  • There is no age limit for who is eligible for coverage
  • There is a $50,000 annual maximum for applied behavior analysis
  • Does not allow plans to file for an exemption if costs increase by a certain percentage
  • Contains no language about the section expiring in the future
